Bursary Fund
The Carmelite Institute of Britain and Ireland has established a small Bursary fund to support students who may financially struggle to access our accredited programmes.
Eligibility Criteria
- Existing students: The bursary will only be awarded when a student has completed two modules and has scored an average B grade.
- Programmes: The bursary applies to applicants for the following programmes only:
- Certificate in Spirituality (Carmelites Studies)
- Diploma in Spirituality (Carmelites Studies)
- B.Th. (Carmelite Studies)
- M.Th. (Carmelite Studies)
- Financial Need: the bursary is for the benefit of unwaged applicants, from the lay community.T
Application Procedure
- Application letter: To be considered for a bursary please write to the Director of Studies (via email to admin@cibi.ie) outlining your personal aspirations and how studying Carmelite Spirituality will help you realise these goals. Your letter should include details of your eligibility for the bursary, explaining your financial need. The application should be between 200 and 300 words. To be considered for a bursary please write to the Director of Studies outlining:
- Timelines: Applications should be sent between 15 May and 15 June for the September semester, and between 15 November and 07 December for the January semester. No applications outside these timeframes will be considered.
- Privacy and Data Protection: All personal data will be processed in line with our privacy policy.
Selection and award process
- Selection process: all applications will be assessed on a fair and impartial basis by the Director of Studies and General Manager. Decisions will be notified to the applicants one week after the closing date.
- Award Amount and Duration: The bursary is awarded on a semester-by-semester basis and will cover a maximum of 50% of a module fee. As the bursary fund is limited, the bursary awarded may vary semester to semester. A student will only be awarded a bursary for a maximum of two modules in any one semester.
Conditions for holding the bursary
Recipients of the bursary must adhere to the following conditions:
- the relevant module(s) must be studied and completed within one semester.
- all assignments must be submitted within the published timelines.
- If these conditions are not met the student must reimburse CIBI for the bursary amount.
